Mark Downes

Head of Sustainability at Ecoflix

Mark Downes is Head of Sustainability at Ecoflix. The world's first not-for-profit video streaming platform. Their mission is clear: save animals and restore the planet. 100% of subscriber fees go directly to NGO partners.

With a background producing content for a variety of global brands including Nike, Beats, Visa, Adidas, Mark's moment of truth came when he witnessed Ban Ki Moon deliver a 'common ground' keynote address at Cannes Lions in 2016.  The Secretary General call for ‘agents of change’ didn’t go unheard.  Returning to London Mark quit his job, established Green Eyed Monster Films and started tutoring at AdGreen, inspiring filmmakers on how to reduce their carbon footprint. Highlights thus far are directing Sir David Attenborough on several occasions.

After completing the Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Learning business leadership course he has been in much demand as a speaker, consultant, and hands on media practitioner of all things sustainable. He hopes to bring this mix of science and creativity to the Expert network of OpenESG.

Mark holds degrees in Political Science, Sociology and History, a Masters in Cultural Studies and another Masters in Film. Originally from the west of Ireland, he now lives in London.
